THE STORY
GOOD FRIDAY
1014

A tragedy snatched from the jaws of victory.

On Good Friday 1014, Ireland's first true High King, Brian Boru, finally took Dublin back from the Vikings. The patchwork of rival chieftains and clans that was Ireland would at last unite beneath one crown.

That same day, Brian fell, cut down while praying after the battle by a deserting Viking, and with him fell the dream of a united Ireland. A tragedy that flavoured the fate of Ireland herself, from that day to this.

Clontarf Irish Whiskey draws its name, and its stature, from that legendary day.

THE WHISKEY

A bold but balanced whiskey.

Clontarf is a marriage of two great Irish whiskey traditions.

The Malt

Our single malt is triple distilled in copper pot stills, in small batches, for real depth and character.

The Grain

For balance, a single grain whiskey distilled in a classic Coffey still. Light, clean and wonderfully drinkable.

Both rest separately in first-fill bourbon casks for four years, drawing a warm, smooth sweetness. They are then slowly married into a beautifully balanced whiskey, complex with character and smoothly subtle.

HIGH SINGLE-MALT CONTENT AGED FOUR YEARS TRIPLE DISTILLED
Nose

Honeyed malt and a gentle sweetness. Lightly floral, with citrus and ripe apple.

Taste

Smooth and light but layered, with toffee, vanilla, citrus peel and milk chocolate over ripe fruit and biscuity malt.

Finish

Vanilla and toasted oak hold through a dusting of white-pepper spice and a hint of citrus skin.
